City of Yuma Fire Captain, Mike Landin, accepts a check for $2,000 from Fort Yuma Rotary’s President, Keith Boyd. The check is for the Yuma Child Burn Survivors and will allow children to attend the  AZ Children’s Burn Camp, Camp Courage.

At Camp Courage the children ride horses, fish for trout, canoe, rappel off a mountain, practice marksmanship with bows and arrows and pellet guns, canoe, kayak, play miniature golf, swim, paint, explore, etc. – all in with the beautiful Ponderosa pines of Prescott as a backdrop.

For some children, it  is the first opportunity in their lifetime to experience such activities. The kids excelled and even thrived at camp without having to worry about the rejection, isolation, loneliness and frustration so often experienced by a child burn survivor when out in public.

The eventful week full of activities and excitement is climaxed by a solemn and touching closing ceremony conducted every year on the eve of the camp departure day. The campers are verbally praised by their counselors in front of their peers, focusing on the high points of their week and milestones in their lives achieved over those seven days.

Thank you Fort Yuma Rotarians for making this possible!
